On the January Ride

During the first week of January, my ♥ and I were on a train back to Geneva in the restaurant carriage. ♥ was hungy and wanted to order one of those over priced meals...this prompted me to go on a bit of a tangent on money and saving and la la la. Sometimes I envy how he consciously enjoys every moment, never taking into account, how much these 'moments' may cost.  So for the month of January,  I have set the goal to "live the ride" and let my worries fade away.
My "ride" began with this home made shortbread crumbed banana bread cake
Having an extravagant meal with my  at THAÏ in Geneva on a Tuesday Work Night
I had the pan-fried salmon with thai herb salsa & he had the Honey glazed duck & pineapple(Both fantastic btw)
 taking off my scarf
The week before my work team had our rather late Christmas Dinner at the Buffet de la Gare in Eaux Vives
This was the first time I had tried Fois Gras (It came with a fig theme)
Potato Puree with cooked Fois Gras and wild Mushrooms
This was a wonderful chocolate mousse on a light cake with a caramel halo, I could have eaten ten of these

First time Skiing with my Sweetheart

I can't believe I have known my ♥ nearly 6 years (in June) and have never been skiing/snowboarding with him.  I thought it was about time, and asked my dad if we could tag along the next time he goes.  On Saturday we got our snow-gear on and headed up to the Black Forrest in Germany (Near Feldberg).  We started out on some baby slopes to get us warmed up but soon enough we were T-Baring up the mountain, and carving down the slopes together. It's amazing how I could still manage to navigate the hillside even though I had not bee in 7 or so years. I guess it's like riding a bike.

The resort. It was a little shady as it faced north, but it meant far less crowded slopes
Excited to start in some borrowed sunglasses
With my lovely dad. Yes, I did wear a helmet (for the first time) and it only cost 2 to rent.
Hot chocolate heals any cold toes or aching muscles (Especially with a shot of Kirsch in it)
♥ is a snowboarder and looked like an instructor in his red jacket
Gorgeous Black Forrest Views from the top of the lift

Welcome 2012

It's a bit late but what can you do without a functioning camera and no knowledge whatsoever on how to use a newly purchased Imac.  The Christmas holidays were far too short as usual but we did manage to find time to do some exciting activities like 1) Eating and 2) Ice Skating.  I have also passed my 3 month trial period in my new job and am over the moon to be in the midst of things.  I found out that later this year I will be travelling to Thailand on business -it's like my own little Christmas gift from work as i have never been somewhere that exotic and hear it is breathtaking. Anyways, before I chat too long, i'll leave you with some photos of what me and my ♥ have been up to the last few weeks:

Our Starter for our New Years Eve at home: Sushi, Garlic-Chilli Sepia which we made & ♥'s Mango Shrimp
Indulging in seconds of the little baby sepia-squid, they were the highlight of the whole meal
Main: Roasted Duck Break with a Blackberry Jus, Spring Onion Mash and Buttered Baby Carrots
On the 1st of January, I treated  ♥ to some home-made pancakes with expensive maple syrup
Ice Skating in my home town, Basel
 ♥ showing me his moves
Pork Chops with Dijon, apple and maple syrup sauce (and some spätzle yuuuum)
Back in work mode: trying to bring a little bit of my style into the conservative dress code
